A Kiss from Rose | They Do Not Care

In our daily interactions, it becomes clear that many people often overlook the importance of respecting others' time, space, thoughts, decisions, and peace. It's disheartening when individuals disregard these aspects, failing to recognize the impact of their actions. This lack of consideration is evident when people show up late and expect you to wait without complaint, or when they become upset if you express your frustration—situations they themselves would not tolerate if roles were reversed.

The Bible offers several examples of such disrespect and its consequences, providing timeless lessons on the importance of mutual respect and understanding.

1. Joseph and His Brothers:

- Genesis 37:23-28: Joseph's brothers were jealous of him and disregarded his dreams and feelings. They sold him into slavery, showing a complete lack of respect for his well-being. However, God used these actions for a greater purpose, turning Joseph's trials into triumphs and teaching us that even when people mistreat us, God can use those situations for our good.

2. David and Saul:

- 1 Samuel 18:6-11: King Saul’s jealousy and disrespect towards David were evident when he attempted to kill David out of envy. Despite David’s loyalty and service, Saul’s actions showed a profound lack of respect for David’s life and contributions. David’s response, however, was to respect Saul’s position as king, demonstrating a commitment to righteousness even when wronged.

3. Jesus and the Pharisees:

- Matthew 23:1-36: The Pharisees often disrespected Jesus, questioning His authority and attempting to undermine His teachings. They showed no regard for His mission or the truth He spoke. Jesus, in turn, called out their hypocrisy and emphasized the importance of genuine respect and humility before God.

Human Disregard and Divine Perspective

People’s disregard for others is not limited to biblical times; it is a recurring theme in human relationships. Many of us have experienced situations where others show up late, expecting us to wait without complaint, and react negatively when we express our frustration. These same individuals would not tolerate similar behavior from us, revealing a double standard in how they value others’ time and emotions.

Such actions extend beyond mere inconvenience; they signify a deeper issue of disrespect and disregard for others' dignity. When people treat us poorly or speak harshly, it can be hurtful and damaging. However, it’s important to remember that God sees and values each of us, and He calls us to treat one another with love and respect.

God’s View on Respect and Consideration

God’s Word is clear about how we should treat one another. Ephesians 4:29 says, "Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen." In Philippians 2:3-4 instructs, "Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others."

God values respect and consideration deeply. He calls us to honor one another, to be patient, and to build each other up. When people fail to do this, they not only hurt those around them but also go against God’s commandments. Our response should be to continue showing respect and love, trusting that God sees and will address all injustices.

While it is challenging to deal with disrespect and inconsideration, it is essential to remain grounded in God’s love and teachings. By following His example and guidance, we can navigate these difficult interactions with grace and integrity, knowing that our worth and peace come from Him.
