When you have the option of building a bond on a solid foundation or one built on selfish intent, which way are you going to go? When building something on a solid foundation everything is mutual. Things such as respect, love, kindness, understanding, loyalty, consistency, quality, effective communication, and comprehension. When you have these things along with a few others, the bond is hard to break. When you have selfish intent, you will have excuses, blame, lack of respect, lack of effective communication, and comprehension, with a plethora of one-sided vision.
So in your relationship with God, family members, in-laws, friends, and associates are your foundation solid? Are you consistent with selfish intent or attributes of a solid foundation?
Jesus is our "rock", He is solid, that's why we can stand on Him. He is consistent. He is love. When He built His foundation with us, His foundation was solid.
Is your foundation solid with Him? If your foundation is solid with Him, it will be with everyone on the list ( family, in-laws, friends, and associates); because if you are walking in love, then you should be walking in respect, kindness, understanding, loyalty, consistency, quality, effective communication and comprehension. Does this make sense to you? Which road will you take?
1 Peter 2:4-6
4 Come to the Lord Jesus, the “stone”[a] that lives. The people of the world did not want this stone, but he was the stone God chose, and he was precious. 5 You also are like living stones, so let yourselves be used to build a spiritual temple—to be holy priests who offer spiritual sacrifices to God. He will accept those sacrifices through Jesus Christ. 6 The Scripture says:
“I will put a stone in the ground in Jerusalem. Everything will be built on this important and precious rock. Anyone who trusts in him will never be disappointed.” Isaiah 28:16
