The idea of a “perfect person” in God’s eyes is not about flawlessness, as no human is without sin or imperfection. Romans 3:23 reminds us, “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” This verse emphasizes that perfection, as humans might imagine it, is unattainable. Instead, God’s focus is on the heart and our willingness to follow Him.
God does not expect us to be perfect because He knows we are imperfect beings. Psalm 139:1-4 says, “You have searched me, Lord, and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways.” These words reveal that God sees every part of us—our thoughts, actions, and intentions—and loves us despite our flaws.
Through Christ, we are made complete, not because we are perfect, but because of His grace. 2 Corinthians 12:9 reminds us, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” God’s desire is for us to rely on Him, grow in faith, and reflect His love, not to strive for human-defined perfection.
Ultimately, when God sees us, He sees everything—our failures, strengths, and potential—and still offers unconditional love and redemption. The message is clear: we are not perfect, and that is okay, because His love and grace cover all our imperfections.
