To our mother,
Your absence has left a void in our hearts—a space no one else can truly fill. A mother is meant to be the foundation of love, the voice of comfort, and the guide through life’s most challenging moments. Without you, we’ve had to figure out how to navigate life on our own. For a son, it’s the absence of that unwavering support and encouragement—someone to remind him he’s worthy, strong, and capable. For a daughter, it’s the void of a nurturing hand and example, a mother’s wisdom to teach her about strength, self-worth, and love.
This emptiness doesn’t simply fade with time. It lingers in the quiet moments of life—when we need someone to talk to, someone to hold us during heartbreak, or someone to celebrate our victories, big or small. It shapes how we love, how we trust, and how we see ourselves. We carry questions like, “Was I not enough?” or “Why didn’t you stay?” The ache remains in the milestones you missed, the lessons we had to learn the hard way, and the love we hoped for but never received.
To those who are mothers or future mothers, your presence matters more than words can express. A child does not need perfection—only love, consistency, and care. To families of absent mothers—siblings, grandparents, or loved ones—it’s time to come together. Have the hard conversations. Encourage healing and reconciliation wherever possible. Sometimes wounds fester in silence, but truth spoken with love can bring restoration.
Even in the pain of your absence, we hold on to a greater truth: we are not without hope. Psalm 27:10 says, “Though my father and mother forsake me, the Lord will receive me.” Where earthly love has failed, God steps in as our ultimate source of comfort and nurturing. He is the constant presence we can rely on, the loving Father who promises to never leave or forsake us. Through Him, we find the healing, security, and love that our hearts so desperately long for.
To anyone feeling the weight of a mother’s absence, know this: your worth is not defined by who left or who didn’t show up. You are seen. You are valued. You are loved deeply by God, who will never let you go.
Sincerely,
A Son and Daughter
